Exophonies is a permanent laboratory of multilingual writing and art. It came to life after the Rome Review Team realised multilingual writers are everywhere in the world, but struggle to find a common place to meet with each other.

Exophonies takes many forms, some of them still unknown: zines, workshops, residencies and communities. It opens up to any idea and builds spaces beyond cultural and linguistic borders. It operates both internationally, through the magic of the internet, and regionally, depending on where the wind takes The Rome Review and its partners.

Exophonies’ objective is to create a multidisciplinary community of people who want to share their multilingual artistic practice with others. It wants honesty and vulnerability and welcomes anyone who wants to investigate the relationships between languages and cultures, both native and non native.
